Excursion: the different facets of Cairo for 1 night / 2 days departing from Hurghada or Safaga

Early departure from your hotel (in Safaga, Hurghada or El-Gouna), towards Cairo (journey time of approximately 6 hours).

Arrival in Cairo and start the day of the visit:

Saqqara  : A vast funerary complex that contains the necropolis of nobles, dignitaries and high officials of the Old Pharaonic Empire, with its beautiful paintings of daily life of the time, in good condition. In the middle of this desert expanse, stands the first pyramid in the world, that of Pharaoh Djoser, the famous step pyramid of Saqqara, which is considered the first architectural achievement of this magnitude in cut stone in the world.

Lunch in a typical restaurant and continue the day of sightseeing.

The Giza Plateau : The most famous historical site in the world, home to the three famous pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. Khufu's pyramid is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World that still stands. The funerary temple of Pharaoh Khafre, built of limestone and granite, is also located here. The enigmatic Sphinx, of gigantic size, is made of limestone with a human head and a lion's body.

The Egyptian Museum in Cairo : Located in the famous Tahrir Square in the city center, it is an imposing neoclassical building, perfectly suited to its exquisite collections. The Egyptian Museum in Cairo opened its doors to the public in 1902. Since then, it has grown and enriched, becoming the most important museum of Egyptian art in the world. It houses a rich collection of approximately 150,000 pieces of artistic works, spanning all stages of the Pharaonic period, which dates back more than 30 centuries of history.

The Saladin Citadel : It is part of the medieval heritage of Cairo, built in the 12th century AD. It is on a height overlooking all of Cairo. This gigantic building was the seat of power until the 19th century. The Saladin Citadel houses palaces, military barracks, gigantic ramparts with a very ingenious architectural style and also superb mosques especially that of Mohamed Ali, built entirely of alabaster

Khan El-Khalili Bazaar : We will continue into the heart of medieval Cairo, venturing into the oldest market in the Middle East, founded in the 14th century AD, which continues its activities to this day. The Khan El-Khalili souk is a labyrinth of small alleys that are lively day and night, with an atmosphere that engages the senses with a clever mix of sights, sounds, colors, and scents. 

At the end of the day, we will take the return journey (El-Gouna, Hurghada or Safaga)
