It was discovered in 1855 by the French archaeologist Auguste Mariette. It is dedicated to the god HORUS (the falcon)
The Kom Ombo site: Located 105 km south of Luxor and 45 km north of Aswan. The only temple in Egypt dedicated to two different deities: HORUS (the falcon) and SOBEK (the crocodile). It is famous for its famous frescoes, especially the one which represents a calendar of the time and the one which represents the surgical instruments used by the doctors of the time.

It also presents traces left by several civilizations that have passed through here over the centuries; the Pharaohs, the Greeks, the Romans, the Christians, the Muslims and also the French who left an inscription there during Napoleon Bonaparte's Egyptian Expedition.
The High Dam : A gigantic achievement erected in 1971. Considered at the time as the largest dam in the world with a spectacular panoramic view of the immense Lake Nasser, created by this dam.
The unfinished obelisk : An ancient granite quarry widely exploited in the time of the pharaohs. They carved the colossal statues and giant obelisks there. This site still contains a failed obelisk which would have been the largest obelisk in Egypt with its 41 m high and 700 tons of weight, but because of the cracks that occurred during its construction, it was abandoned on the spot.
