Qasr El-Zayan

Built during the Ptolemaic period and expanded under Roman rule, this temple was dedicated to Amun-Ra of Hibis, the ancient deity associated with Kharga Oasis. Its white limestone sanctuary is surrounded by mud-brick chambers, reflecting a simple yet impressive architectural style.

Qasr Ghweita

Known as the "Fortress of the Deep Springs," Qasr Ghweita stands atop a hill overlooking the surrounding valley. Dating back to the 6th century BC, it was dedicated to the divine triad of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu and was constructed on the remains of an earlier Pharaonic settlement.

Qasr El-Nadoura

Visit Qasr El-Nadoura, an ancient watchtower and fortress strategically positioned on a hilltop. It once served as a customs post for caravans traveling between Darfur and Assiut and played an important role in protecting the oasis from potential incursions.

From the summit, enjoy panoramic views over palm groves, cultivated fields, traditional pigeon towers, and the surrounding desert—an extraordinary oasis of greenery amidst the sands.

Arrival in Kharga Oasis

Continue to Kharga Oasis and check in to your hotel.

In the afternoon, enjoy a pleasant walk through the oasis, discovering traditional mud-brick houses, lush gardens, towering palm trees, and historic pigeon towers. Here, the advancing desert gradually encroaches upon the oasis, with moving dunes reaching heights of one to six meters.

Ganah Natural Site

The excursion continues to Ganah, a beautiful natural site surrounded by stunning desert scenery.

Relax in a natural hot spring and experience one of the highlights of the day: watching the sunset over the dunes as the desert glows with spectacular shades of gold and amber.

Return to Kharga Oasis.

After breakfast at your hotel, depart to visit some of the most remarkable historical sites of Kharga Oasis.

Hibis Temple

Located about 1 km north of the oasis, Hibis Temple is a true open-air history book of ancient Egypt.

Built during the 26th Dynasty, the last native Egyptian dynasty before the Persian conquest in 525 BC, this remarkable monument reflects the influences of the Pharaonic, Persian, Ptolemaic, and Roman periods. Its well-preserved architecture and finely carved reliefs make it an exceptional testament to the continuity and evolution of religious worship through the centuries.

Bagawat Cemetery

Continue to the Bagawat Cemetery, one of the oldest Christian sites in Egypt, dating back to the 4th century AD.

The site contains 236 mud-brick tomb chapels topped with vaulted roofs. At its center stands an ancient church considered one of the earliest Coptic churches in Egypt.

Among its most famous monuments is the Chapel of the Exodus, decorated with frescoes depicting the Israelites' escape from Egypt. The Chapel of Peace features representations of Jacob, Saint Paul, Saint Thecla, and the Virgin Mary. Throughout the cemetery, Coptic inscriptions and wall paintings illustrate the faith, daily life, and hopes of the early Christian communities who settled in the oasis.

Along the way, discover the fascinating remains of ancient Roman settlements that once flourished along important caravan routes.

Deir El-Munira

Located 23 km north of Kharga, Deir El-Munira, meaning "The Luminous Monastery," contains the ruins of a Roman fortress later converted into a Christian monastery.

A mud-brick temple still standing on the site reflects the blending of cultures and religious traditions over many centuries.

Qasr El-Dabashiya

About 28 km from the oasis, Qasr El-Dabashiya preserves the remains of an ancient temple, a pigeon tower, and several tombs.

The site remained inhabited from Roman times until the mid-20th century, demonstrating the resilience of desert communities that depended on oasis wells for survival.

Umm El-Dabadib

Located approximately 40 km northwest of Kharga, Umm El-Dabadib is one of the most important archaeological sites in the Western Desert.

Nestled beneath dramatic cliffs marking the edge of the depression, this extensive Roman complex includes a massive fortress, an Egyptian temple, a Christian church, several necropolises, and an ingenious irrigation system that once supported a thriving self-sufficient settlement.

Qasr El-Labakha

Continue to Qasr El-Labakha, one of the region’s most impressive archaeological sites.

Situated along an ancient route connecting Kharga to Assiut, the site contains two temples, a cemetery, underground aqueducts, and a sulfur spring renowned for its therapeutic properties.

Its well-preserved Roman fortress stands as a reminder of the strategic importance of this location until the 4th century AD.

Desert Camp Experience

Discover Teneda, a site of wild beauty characterized by sculpted sand dunes and remarkable rock formations. Here, you can explore caves containing rare prehistoric rock engravings depicting giraffes, antelopes, and birds—evidence of a distant era when the desert was a lush savannah.

English Mountain

Continue to the English Mountain, a strategic military camp during World War II. The site still preserves graffiti left by British soldiers, along with various historical artifacts such as topographical maps, utensils, and remnants of military equipment.

Balat Village

Arrive at Balat Village in Dakhla Oasis, a true gem of traditional desert architecture.

Its narrow alleyways, some covered and deliberately built with low ceilings, were designed to prevent intruders on horseback or camelback from entering. The pale blue walls of some houses add a charming touch to this ancient maze, where time seems to stand still.

Mut Town

White Desert National Park

Arrive at the spectacular White Desert, one of the world's most extraordinary natural wonders.
