The obelisk, unfinished , remained lying in its phenomenal granite quarry d. This is the most exploited in the Pharaonic era. It was abandoned at its excavation site after architects discovered cracks in its mass. Completed, it should have been the most imposing obelisk of the time with 42 m high and 1200 tons. This recumbent obelisk allows you to discover with precision the techniques used at the time during the construction of this kind of gigantic columns.

Philae Temple

The Philae temple is located on an island in the middle of the Nile in a serene and romantic setting; Agilica Island. It is one of the best preserved Greco-Roman period temples in Egypt. This temple is dedicated to the goddess Isis and adorned with magnificent wall carvings. It also presents traces left by other civilizations that passed through there over the centuries: Greeks, Romans, Christians, Muslims and even the French who left an inscription there during Napoleon Bonaparte's Egyptian Expedition.
