Half-Day Aswan: Nubian Museum, Elephantine Island and Botanical Garden

The Nubian Museum is located in town, just across from the legendary Old Cataract hotel. It contains 3000 ancient rooms on 3 floors which represent a wide range of treasures of the Nubian civilization from antiquity until today. The unique Nubia Museum in Aswan is renowned as one of the most important Egyptian museums. It extends over 50,000 m2 including 7,000 m2 of actual construction, in the middle of a landscaped park.

Elephantine Island

Elephantine Island , located on the Nile in Aswan, is historic. It is surrounded by a sublime natural setting. We join her in a felucca on a barge. It contains the remains of stone temples from different eras including the temple of Khnum of the god of the flood, traditionally represented with the head of the ram and built during the Old Pharaonic Empire. Elephantine Island also houses the Nilometer, a device Egyptian to measure the level of the Nile.
It also houses a museum containing an important collection of sculptures that were discovered in Aswan and Nubia.

Aswan Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden or Kitchener Island is located on the Nile opposite the city of Aswan. It can be reached by felucca or barge. This island was offered, at the end of the 19th century , by the Egyptian government to Lord Kitchener, a great English soldier in gratitude for his services to the Egyptian army. With the help of the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture, Kitchener has made it a garden for acclimatization and experimentation with exotic plants, bringing together numerous specimens of plants from equatorial Africa, tropical Asia and around the world.
