Overview
This full day excursion allows you to discover archaeological sites little frequented by tourists: El-Tod, the temple of Esna and El-Kab as well as the unmissable site of Edfu, enjoying varied landscapes during the journey, alternating villages and small towns.
Itinerary
The site of El-Tod: Located 20 km south of Luxor. This historic site is located in the heart of a village that currently bears the same name (El-Tod). This site dates from the Middle Empire (about 20th century BC), it is dedicated to the god MONTAU , god of war. Many pieces from this site are currently exhibited at the Louvre Museum in Paris.
Esna Temple : Located about 60 km south of Luxor on the left bank of the Nile. This site is located in the city center of Esna. Dedicated to the god Khonoum, god of creation and flooding. It is distinguished by its hypostylle room containing refined and very elegant columns.
The El-Kab site: Located 65 km south of Luxor. This site contains the remains of the political and religious capital of Upper Egypt from before 3200 BC and a necropolis of numerous tombs which still remain in a very good state of conservation.
The Edfou site: Located 120 km south of Luxor. It is a temple that dates from the Greco-Roman era, it is dedicated to the falcon god Horus. This site is among the best preserved in Egypt because it remained buried for a very long time under sand and dwellings. It was discovered in 1855 by the French archaeologist Auguste Mariette.
At the end of the day, return to Luxor.
